Nevada-Specific Insurance Considerations

Las Vegas Convention Center & LVCVA Requirements
The Las Vegas Convention Center requires all exhibitors, contractors, and event hosts to carry $1M general liability and $1M automobile liability with certificates naming “Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA)” as Additional Insured. Workers’ compensation is required for all contractors. Contractor permits require an annual $250 fee. We provide certificates meeting all LVCVA requirements.

Clark County vs. City of Las Vegas Jurisdiction
The Las Vegas Strip (Paradise/Winchester) is unincorporated Clark County—not City of Las Vegas. Events on the Strip require Clark County permits and insurance naming “Clark County” as Additional Insured. Events in downtown Las Vegas or city parks require “City of Las Vegas” as Additional Insured. Check your venue’s jurisdiction before requesting your certificate.

Nevada’s Limited Dram Shop Liability
Unlike most states, Nevada does not impose civil liability on businesses for injuries caused by intoxicated adult patrons (NRS 41.1305). Licensed bars, restaurants, and casinos are generally not liable for damages caused by customers after leaving the establishment. However, social hosts who serve alcohol to anyone under 21 are fully liable. Despite Nevada’s limited dram shop laws, most venues still require Host Liquor Liability coverage—included in all our policies at no extra cost.

Special Event Liquor Permits
Nevada special event liquor permits allow retail sale of alcohol for up to 10 continuous days. In Clark County, permits are only issued to applicants holding valid existing liquor licenses. City licensees must also hold an interjurisdictional general business license. If you’re not a licensed liquor provider, you’ll need to work with a licensed caterer. If serving alcohol without selling it (hosted bar), Host Liquor Liability is included in all policies.

Nevada State Parks
Events at Nevada State Parks (including Sand Harbor, Valley of Fire, and Cathedral Gorge) require special use permits, a valid Nevada State Business License, and proof of insurance with the state named as Additional Insured. Permits require a $25 non-refundable processing fee.

Extreme Heat Considerations
Las Vegas and southern Nevada regularly exceed 110°F during summer months. Many outdoor venues require indoor backup plans for events between June and September. Some event insurance policies offer weather-related cancellation coverage for extreme heat—contact us for options.

Casino & Gaming Property Requirements
Major casino resorts (MGM properties, Caesars properties, Wynn Resorts) have specific insurance requirements that vary by property and event type. All require Additional Insured endorsements naming their specific corporate entities. We provide same-day certificates with exact wording for all major casino properties.
